Overview:
The Electrical Engineer, located in the Reno, Nevada area, applies the knowledge and techniques of advanced mathematics and engineering in the planning, developing, designing, and construction of renewable energy structures. This person will provide technical assistance on electrical information to contractors and owners and will assist state agencies with budget requests for projects, maintenance of electrical systems, and recommendations for proper operations and design of electrical installations.
Responsibilities:
• Plan, develop and recommend to management, environmentally acceptable transmission plans to ensure safe, reliable, economic and efficient operation of the electric transmission system
• Evaluate alternatives, perform economic analyses/assessments, and make recommendations
• Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Acts as a resource for management and staff; provide technical support within area of responsibility
• Participate in teams and manage initiatives and projects to ensure safety and reliability of electrical distribution equipment with varying voltage ranges
• Discuss, review and interpret plans and specifications
• Reviews documents and reconciles discrepancies; makes needed adjustments
• Assist management in developing project scopes, schedules, estimates, and project status reports
• Take leading role in assisting operations in analyzing incident reports, equipment failures, and improving equipment performance
• Assist in developing clearances, and resolving emergencies
• Coordinates and/or acts as a liaison between agency or work unit and other agencies, work units, organizations, and suppliers
• Identify gaps/issues and collaborate with the owner to close them and ensure compliance with tariffs, rules and regulations
Require Qualifications:
• Experience in Transmission Planning and System Operations
• Thorough knowledge of power system theory and analysis
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent
• 8+ years experience in design and maintenance of power distribution
