Overview:
The Power Plant Projects Manager in the Reno, Nevada area has responsibility for one or more power plant projects and is the primary point of contact for contractors and owners during project construction. The Power Plant Projects Manager is supported by the Project Engineer and the administrative staff assigned to the project. The Power Plant Projects Manager is normally on the job site during construction which frequently includes evening and weekend hours.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct construction feasibility reviews of project plans and specifications
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects
• Observe construction, operations, and maintenance activities at project site
• Interpret engineer’s contract documents, plans and specifications
• Monitors progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety standards
• Coordinate, review, and respond to contractor requests for information, change requests, shop drawings and other submittals
• Monitor contractor’s activities for compliance with contract terms, plans and specifications through on-site observation, field testing, and inspection
• Document contractor’s progress versus the contract schedule
• Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
• Prepare daily observation and progress reports
• Maintain record of contractor’s equipment and labor force at the project site
• Verify work progress quantities for progress payment requests
• Prepare agenda for, and conduct weekly status meeting, with contractor and owner’s representative and prepare and distribute meeting minutes and action items
• Witness on-site testing of electrical and mechanical systems
• Monitor contractor’s compliance with project permits and any reporting requirements.
• Maintain as-built drawings
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of power plant construction experience
• Minimum 10 years of related experience in the power industry
• Knowledge of construction means and methods
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
• Knowledge of contract documents
Desired Qualifications:
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Good computer skills with Microsoft Office and scheduling software
• BSEE, BSME or functional equivalent
• Prefer knowledge of renewable energy power systems
